Full central heating design and installation — radiators, pipework, smart controls and system upgrades.
A well-designed central heating system should warm every room evenly, respond quickly to the thermostat and use as little gas as possible doing it. J.Avery Plumbing & Heating designs and installs complete heating systems from scratch, as well as carrying out radiator upgrades, pipework re-routing and controls upgrades on existing systems across the West Midlands.
Every job starts with a proper heat-loss calculation for each room, not a guess. That tells us exactly what radiator output you need, whether your existing gas supply is up to the job, and where bottlenecks in the pipework might be limiting performance. We then specify a system — boiler, radiators, pump, controls and any required zone valves — that matches the property rather than defaulting to a generic package. For larger or older houses we often recommend zoning the heating so bedrooms and living areas can run on separate schedules, which pays back quickly in gas savings.
We fit a wide range of radiators from standard convector panels to designer vertical and column radiators, and install smart controls including Nest, Hive, Worcester Wave, Tado and Honeywell. Every new or altered system is flushed, dosed with inhibitor, fitted with a magnetic filter and commissioned with balanced flow temperatures so it runs quietly and efficiently from day one. With 22 years of experience, Worcester Bosch and Baxi accreditation and a 9.97/10 Checkatrade score across 168 reviews, we take the whole project end to end — design, install, commission and aftercare — with one point of contact throughout.
How we deliver your central heating installation.
We visit the property, measure each room, discuss how you use the house and identify any pain points such as cold spots or slow warm-up times.
We calculate the required output for each room and size radiators, pipework and boiler output accordingly. You get a clear system specification rather than a vague proposal.
A detailed, itemised quote covers boiler, radiators, controls, pipework, flushing and commissioning. The price is fixed before work begins.
Our team installs pipework, radiators, valves and controls with floors protected and mess kept to a minimum. Most full installs complete within three to five days.
The system is flushed, inhibited and balanced room by room so every radiator reaches temperature evenly. Smart controls are paired and tested with you.
We walk you through the controls, register warranties and leave you with paperwork, inhibitor levels and a plan for the first annual service.
The questions our customers most often ask.
For a typical three-bed house with a new boiler, radiators and pipework, allow three to five working days. Larger homes or zoned systems can take a week to ten days. We give a firm timeline in the quote.
Yes. We can add, move or upgrade radiators and check that your boiler, pipework and pump are sized to cope with the extra load. If your current boiler is at its limit, we'll tell you before any work starts.
We fit one as standard on every installation. They catch the iron oxide sludge that causes pump failures, blocked heat exchangers and cold spots at the bottom of radiators, and they typically extend boiler life by years.
It depends on your boiler and how you want to control it. Worcester Wave and Bosch EasyControl integrate best with Worcester boilers, while Nest and Hive are excellent general-purpose options. We'll recommend the right fit during the design stage.
Usually yes — we can design a hybrid system where underfloor heating serves specific rooms (often kitchens, bathrooms or extensions) alongside traditional radiators, with blending valves to manage flow temperatures.
Not always. If your existing radiators are correctly sized, in good condition and sludge-free, we can often keep them. We check each one during the survey and only recommend replacements where they make sense.
